Uncomfortable Seating
Installation
With this installation, multidisciplinary visual artist Yves Gabriel examines the reluctance often found in our communities to address multilayered issues: slavery, racism, colorism, objectification of women, colonialism, and gender inequality.
By reconfiguring the chair that is unusable or uncomfortable, Gabriel seeks to conjure up a space where members of these communities can engage in a substantive conversation about intolerance that continues to undermine the fabric of our society.
